Can DC really void warranty for using another brand of fluids???

I've read that in several different posts and that just not seem right!?!?!? It seems to me that dealers are telling people that just to sell their own product.

I've been told by someone I trust that as long as you use a different brand of equal or superior quality it is illegal for manufactures to void the warranty.

Can someone clarify this. Is DC really THAT bad on warranty issues?

I would guess that they can try as they seem to like voiding warrantys. My sugestion is to make sure that you use only recomended types of lubes, ATF only +4 rated and I think that Mopar and Valvoline are the ony 2 suppliers of same. Amsoil is very close but the last I heard not specifically +4 so use at your own risk. Motor oil must be diesel rated, diferentials g5 rated and 4x4 transfer case +4 rated. As long as you can prove proper rated fluids you should be safe.

As long as the fluids you use MEET or EXCEED the manufacturers requirements, like donhov stated before me. They truly have no ground in giving you grief about your choices of brands of fluids and where the services are performed. They cannot give you grief if you choose to do it yourself, just make sure you have receipts to prove you purchased the servicing needs, or from whoever performed the work. I keep a pocket log book for all my vehicles. I record all my fuel usage by date and mileage, keep my servicing mileage along with what was done at the servicing, and also keep by date and mileage any mods or installs of aftermarket stuff I buy. I get receipts for everything and at the end of every year I put all of whats relevant together in an envelope labeled for the year and vehicle. When you have this kind of **** information, the dealer or the manufacturer would have a very hard time giving you warranty claim problems or denying your warranty. All the manufacturers of oil, filters, etc used for maintenance specify on their products what specs their products meet and as long as you are using the right ones you should have no problems. I would bet that DC does not foster this 'communistic type manifesto' from their dealers, and I would also bet that if you looked a dealer in the eye and said "WELL let's see what DC has to say about this" you would see that dealer backpeddling to keep you off the phone, or keep you away from a state agency.

Use the right stuff in a timely manner and keep good records.
