Question BUYING 05 3500 ANY HORRORS TO LOOK OUT FOR ie53 blocks

I am working on a deal to trade my 99 with a 53 block {not cracked yet} on a 2005 3500 4x4 . I don't want to take a chance on the block cracking. Is there any serious problems with the 05 that I should be aware of? I would appreciate any feed back as I would like to be better prepared than when I bought the 99. If I would have known about the risks involved with the 53 I would never have bought it. Thank in advance for your help

other than the plastic intercooler, 04.5 and 05 are the best years to buy

If it's an auto the T/H mode wasn't too great, no way to lock out OD. I hear they have a reflash for that now. Reflash it before signing the papers.

I have the exact truck you are looking to buy. Except for minor interior issues (rattles) that have been fixed, it has been a great truck so far, 30K on the clock.

I also have a few rattles in my interior, but other than that its a great truck, also the 05 trucks have the pumps in the tank instead of on the block, and yea the dreaded plastic intercooler which i have and i need to throw over the hill! You won't regret buying the truck!

I love mine.

Didn't get the plastic intercooler. :-)

Wish I had the OD lock out, but don't want the reverse honk thing that comes with the reflash.

What is the difference in 05 and 06? With stick, not auto.

I too own an 05 3500 4x4 best I've ever owned also with a plastic intercooler. No major issues but whats the deal with the plastic intercooler is it because it can't handle boost pressure !!!
