Also I can't get 475 miles out of a tank before the fuel light comes on. I have almost 11,000 miles on it.

My build date is March, 2004 but bought in late May. Hand calc'd mileage is around mid 11 mpg's, 50/50 city/highway driving unloaded. 2000 miles on the odometer. Trying to be easy on the skinny pedal to get true reading of mpg. mpg's are hand calc'd.
I would not buy a truck built in april. I think you're still risking getting one with bad mpg. We're nearly in August now, so you should be able to get one built in at least June. I haven't seen many or any complaints on mpg here or on TDR with trucks built in June or later. You might have to wait but it'll be worth it. Had I known, I would have waited. You can always see if you can do a 24 hour test drive on the one you want and calc the mileage yourself on the April truck.

I have 7000 miles on now and the milage seems to be holding now at around 16+- a few tenths. That is local 8 miles round trip highway to work. Whent on a short ride this weekend and the overhead said 17.5 most of the time at 60-65. When the truck had 500 miles on it I whent on a 400 mile round trip 100% highway and cruised at 60 the hole way and got 18.2 hand calculated and the overhead said 16. All the numbers are from the overhead except the 400 mile trip. The real problem for mee is when I hook something up to the hitch. It seems to me that there is a switch on it that atomaticaly sets the milage to around 10-12 mpg no mater whats behind you. I got 10mpg towing a camper at 75-80 and 12 pulling a real small trailer with 2 atvs at 72. Dont make much sense to me.
I have only had mine a few days, but I am having a problem adjusting to the 04 as compared to my 01. I tend to put my foot in it like driving my 01 and the 04 just does not need as much foot to go through all the gears to get to any given speed. Partly as a human bean, I think I am trying to hear the rattle of my 01 engine speed when taking off and shifting.
