Question Broken Snapped Lower Ball Joint...How to Proceed(?)

Pulled out of driveway the other day (truck was backed-in/facing street) and after turning onto the street, I noticed the steering wheel was difficult to turn. Thinking the pwr steering must have gone out, pulled back into the driveway, got out to check and low and behold... discovered the ps LBJ was snapped clean in half and the wheel was sitting at a 30 deg angle =0 So, besides obviously needing new L&U BJs, what else should I look at/what else likely needs replacing seeing how I drove the truck apprx 50ft in this condition(?)

Side note... I'm incredibly thankful this happened while pulling out of my driveway vs cruising down the road at highway speeds ... talk about guardian angels!!

Likely nothing else broke. Most people replace both upper and lower when doing this. But you can test the upper, It is supposed to telescope up and down and have no sideways angle motion. What happens when the lower ball joint wears, it allows the knuckle to push at an angle the upper ball joint stud causing severe pressure on it, and it wears out fast.
Dont get the MOOG lower joint. I started a post here on what I think is a good not too expensive ball joint for my 3500 2005 4x4 Ram.

I have heard the lower Moog joints wear into and grind away ball stud on the bearing surface. And it just gets worse fast once it becomes loose inside. That causes it under the weight of the truck to jam and not turn smoothly. Then you have all sorts of driving down the road problems. Wheel not self centering, truck darts around on the road, constantly have to correct the steering.

That stud may have metal fatigued from being hit hard or it had a lot of friction force not letting it turn, jammed inside from broken parts.
It looks stock Dodge joint, is it?

Yeah, I eventually came to a similar conclusion, though at first was thinking I had gotten a defective part(?) The really incredible thing about it... is how I walked out to my truck the next morning and noticed the wheel cocked at a severe 45-degree and was extremely surprised that it somehow broke AFTER I parked for the night vs it breaking while traveling 55+mph down the highway on my way home from work. I gotta think, had it broke at highway speed... things would not likely have ended well at all. That said, the ball joint wasn't original stock, I had actually replaced them about 3yr prior with the most expensive ball joints AutoZone had in stock but unfortunately don't happen to recall whose brand they are.

Yes, that is a miracle, God was watching out for you.
Could be the metal ball stud had a defect when it was made.
I have seen random pictures of broken joints, usually the ball pulls out of the housing, must be a very small number break the stud itself.
