Brake Question-2006 3/4 ton 4x4

I purchased a new 2500 2 weeks ago and love the truck. I noticed the front rims are darker than the back rims from brake dust. I know this is normal for most cars and trucks, but I was wondering how the brakes are on the Dodge trucks. My old chevy has 73,000 miles on the original brakes. Will the dodge come close to this? The diesel power is amazing compared to the chevy gas engine. I can't wait to hook up the boat. Thanks.

Brake Question-2006 3/4 ton 4x4

L.T.

During my latest tire rotation at 32,000 km (20,000 miles), checked pads and little wear all round. Fronts were worn about 1/16", less on rears. I don't pull heavy though, only have 5,000 lb trailer that I pull in summer for about 3 - 4 weeks. I live on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, so have a lot of hills to deal with. Would like to have an exhaust brake but don't expect the 48RE would stand up, but, who knows. Who out there has an exhaust brake on their 48RE? How does the 48RE stand up?

Good question. Mine had 38K on it when I put my winter tires and wheels back on. I inspected the brakes at that time and they still looked like new. I believe you will get as many differing answers as you do on fuel mileage. I think it has a lot to do with driving style and what you tow or haul. I do very little of either and do try to conserve my brakes.
