I just ordered a couple Fleetguards from Geno's, so it will be a couple days. Mark, have you read the TSB on this issue? It's HUGE potential to be SERIOUS problems. There are 18 different possibilities of what could be the problem and a couple of them are severe...

I am seriously thinking of just going and getting a quick fix filter from Pep Boys or something tomorrow until my Fleetguards get in just to see if that does it. Man, I'm a little nervous fellas...

I just think these injectors are garbage and the slightest thing causes a problem. Someday I'll get some real sticks.
I really hate to hear that bud...and you know what, I'm leaning towards a fouled injector myself. I just let my truck idle and stood there for a few minutes, just to inspect with my ears and could hear a little injector knock. So I got in the truck and parked it next to my house so I could get some sound reflection off the wall and sure enough, I can hear some significant ticking.

How many people in here have had to experience failing injectors with 12k on their truck?

Yes, I have read it and my truck has had the TSB/flash done twice...before it fixed my longcranking times.

I bet it's nothing and they will reflash your computer and ship it...I would not worry if I was you.
but I would still change the filter first the dealer may charge you an hour's labor if they do it. $45-75 bucks an hour.
checked your oil yet????

Yeah, my buddy was having issues with his '06. Took off his Edge and had the 18-003-06 REV. A done and it took care of it.

Right now it's full, why ya ask? By the way, this morning when it was cold, it didn't give me any start up rough idle...a little blue smoke (not as much as when it rough idles) came out, but I haven't had any rough idle today. I am going to get a new fuel filter here in a few and as soon as the truck sits for a little longer, I am going to check the oil. I really don't want anything to be wrong with my truck. The way that it is acting though, with the SOMETIMES it idles rough and sometimes it doesn't kinda makes me feel a LITTLE better, like maybe it's just something minor, such as the fuel filter.

Also, might be a stupid question, but since I just started using Howe's a couple thousand miles ago, is it possible that it broke some crud loose and it got deposited in my filter or whatever and has it a little stopped up?

The reason I ask, I had a couple of posts on other sites where some started seeing issues, similar to yours, with the change to the new ULSD. Try dumping a 1qt of 2-stroke oil in the fuel and see if it clears up. I've been running 2-stroke in mine since new with no problems, the truck seems haapier. Just a thought.

I was thinking it might be the ULSD too, but just the other day (while I was having the problem) I happened to come upon a Flying J in Arizona that still sold LSD and I filled up with it and poured in 8oz of Howe's and still nothing...still rough idle and blue smoke.

I just changed out the fuel filter and it was PRETTY black ya'll. PRETTY black. Filled the reservoir, cranked her up and ran to the back, no blue smoke and no rough idle...course the engine wasn't cold yet so that might have an effect. But I took it for a spin and it seemed like a whole different truck again. More responsive and seemed like it was idling smoother than it had in a WHILE. So I am keeping my fingers crossed that I fixed the problem. I will let ya'll know in the A.M. when I crank it when it's cold if I get any blue smoke. If I do, off with the mods and to the dealership we go...oh yeah and Mark, oil levels are fine.

Any news on how that filter helped. I have a 2006 that has the same issues only at 2500 miles. Sos far dealer has replaced 2 injectors. Still picks up the chug chug idle at startup evry now and again and blows white smoke. But seems to be less and less lately. Now it is down to once every week or so..
I have not changed fiter yet, but not sure if dealer has or not. I keep returning it to them, but they can not duplicate and no codes are thrown. But they are performing work because I have seen water drain hose rerouted and such....Let us know if the filter solves any issues. I ordered filters last night from Genos..

Read my posts on the problem I am having. 33,000 miles and the same thing...but once I got it to the dealer...it wouldn't start anymore and they are TRYING to stick me with a 6700.00 bill because the fuel filter was 3000 miles overdue for a change. So I guess they are saying these fuel systems are so fragile....you might need to carry a portable filter with you to the pump to protect yourself. LOL

Does your truck have vent hoses on top of the tank? There is a recall for 2006's.If not that is where the contamination can come from. Mine was recalled at 14148 miles and waited till 33,000 to show up and become a problem. Unfortunately, they SAID they changed the filter and cleaned the tank.....and it still would not start.

If you have trash in the tank it dont matter if you have a brand new filter it could suck it up and plug it too. They are saying the system will bypass the filter (around the rubber seal) and plug injectors.

I hope you have better luck.

After the truck is started, it blows blue smoke and idles rough, then straightens out, and it drives just FINE...all the power is there, etc. Then when I roll up on a stop light, it idles roughly again every so often...has been doing this for three days...what do you all think is the problem?
I experienced the exact same problem on a 2000 mile trip. This was the first time I had used Howe's Meaner Power Cleaner, and the last! Since then I have not ran any additives and it is starting to clean up. I'm pretty sure it was carbon build up on the injector tip causing it to leak-down when the engine was shut down and dump in to much fuel at idle. One thing that seems to help is to get the egt's up to burn off any built up carbon on the injector tip.

Crazy that you say this man...my problems started shortly after I started using the Howe's product and I am VERY reluctant to put it back into the truck after what was going on. I have heard MANY claims laid to Howe's products being great, but my father has never used any of them and has over 475K on his truck and hasn't had a failed injector, etc to date...anybody in the SoCal area want to buy 4 new quarts of Howe's Meaner Power Cleaner?
