Blown Intercooler & Warranty
I posted last week that I took my truck into the ******* to have it looked at, some of you wrote back and said it might be the intercooler. After two day's not hearing anything from them I called and asked for an update, the service rep told me that it had a blown intercooler and the part would be put on order.
Lets see that was Wednesday, Friday comes, no part. So he tells me it will be Monday. No call from them on Monday so I call and ask what's going on, three hours pass before they return my call, and the good news, well their isn't any. According to the service rep the part is on a national back order with expected delivery maybe by the 17th of July.
Here's the best part since I only have the basic warranty I don't get no loaner vehicle or discounted rental rate! So I call the D.C. service center to see what they will do, their answer we will check on it and call you in few day's.
I am starting to not like Dodge anymore! this is my first one and I am not impressed! Maybe it's time to go look at the New Super Duty.

Hey man, let me tell you something. Switching makes isn't going to get you better service. Unless you buy a BMW or Mercedes or equivalent you're going to have to fight for a rental. The last Ford I owned (2000 F-150) had 13 miles on it when the engine had to be replaced. And I had to scream and shout and jump up and down on the GM's desk to get a rental. Make some noise. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, as they say.
You must have one of the infamous plastic end cap aftercoolers. Luckly Dodge wised up and switched back quickly to the aluminum version.
I think Ford is still using plastic for theirs (and having the same issue).

Guess I should of paid more attention to the warranty details,
I have only owned GM's in the past and never had an issue such as this. And they were always good in giving us a loaner if the vehicle was there more than 8 hours.
Maybe it's just the dealer also, I proably should of took it to the Bigger Dealership down the hill but I didn't want to drive the truck that far since it had no power and EGT's were very high just driving the 20 miles to get it to this one.

I have heard of a few dealers that if you can find the part will pop for an aftermarket unit, like the Banks unit. See if they will order an aftermarket unit that is readially avail to get you on the road again. If they agree to that then you may ahve to do the leg work to find someone that has one on hand but that is better than waiting another 2 weeks at least.......Just a thought....

It's part of the standard GM warranty to give you a rental or loaner if they require to keep you vehicle more than 24hrs, but when I had my last Chev it was pretty common for the dealer to make excuses why they can't get you a loaner etc... but I had allot more problems with my past Chev's than I have had so far with my RAM..
its a bad deal. i tried to explain to them that i didnt plan on keeping my truck past the 3/36 so there was no point in the extended warranty. seems kinda wild considering chevy always gives my mom a loaner and when i take her lexus in for an oil change or anything when im off they immediately give me a 50k loaner to mess around in and i dont even have to put gas in it!

It's worth asking I guess?
I guess this means that I got lucky. I cracked my plastic end caps about three weeks ago but they were able to get the part in the next morning. Got the good aluminum intercooler now. Sounds like I just missed the back order pain in the neck.
