I can't seem to find the thread using the 'Search' function, but last winter someone had posted pics of their receptacle it was a marine type of receptacle mounted in the bumper with a spring cover.

Please anyone post a pic of yours and as much info as you can to help me do this set-up. I believe it was mainly done so the hood would not have to be opened and so the cord would unplug easily if you pulled away forgetting to unplug it.

You did not ask for it but I installed the bumper plug from Geno's http://www.genosgarage.com/prodinfo.asp?number=WD-BHP. Easy to install and looks much better than the plug hanging down. Being black and all really hard to see. Even keeps the plug dry, I should have done it sooner .

'Bout what temp should ya start plugging in the engines? I know that my truck starts up with no problems when it's in the 40's.

 

Really don't need to until it's below 20 IIRC? I plan to use mine when it's 45 or lower because it takes me about half of my commute 1/2hr before I have any heater that's worth anything.

 

I'm stationed in SC, from Fl, cold to me is 60*... I plug mine in when it starts getting what my wife calls 'chilly'...

FWIW... If you click on search, then advanced search, you can start searching from when you know the post was from... obvously 6+ months ago. I found it in about 2 minutes. Not cause I'm smarter, mind you, but because I had the tools... (cause I ain't 'smarter'...)

 

Good excuse to install an exhaust brake, truck warms up in 1/3rd the time. I have the bracket/cord from Genos on my truck, it was an easy install, does the job well.

If my truck did not come w/ a heater cord from the factory, will I need to purchase one to use the item listed above from Geno's garage, or does that item have a cord that hooks to the block where the OEM cord would have? Thanks if anyone knows?

You can get both the cord and the mounting bracket from Genos's Garage. Their cord will intall the same as the factory cord, should come with intructions. Easy to do.

Thanks, where exactly does this mount? Anyone got a pic of one mounted?

 

It mounts above the bumper, just inside the passenger side tow hook.

 

I used the Marine type connector. The one Geno's sells is 3 times what I paid for the connector. Works great. Look in my gallery.

 

Did this come with a bracket ?
Does it mount to the upper part or the lower part of the bumper ?
Does it use bolts, screws ?
I have a marine type plug I just can't figure out how to mount it to the bumper. Help!
