Just got this and want to install. Want to do it myself to save $100. I am a bit nervous about doing it myself as I will be tapping into the ECM. Can anyone give me some pointers and pics? It looks simple enough, just cutting one wire.

It came with 3 long wires, and a short red and black wire. The red wire is to tap into the fuse block and is far too short to reach from inside the cab. Is there an alternative power tap like the cig lighter wire that they intended it for? I already have my guages tapped into the cig lighter wire. Would that create an issue?

i was told this BD lockout was the way to go for our 2005 model trucks.

But so far my dodge diesel truck has pulled anything i wanted to pull with no problem. So guess i will wait on installing this option for a while.

But would be nice to lockout 4th gear sometimes.

i could do this on my old chevy 2500 by placing the shifter lever in 3, so the transmission never shifted to o/d.

 

With a lot of slower inclined mountain driving my truck bogs way too much. I keep hitting tow/haul to get it to down shift but it shifts right back into overdrive right away. Very annoying and I am sure bogging the truck is not good for it.

 

mystery switch mod will work for you---do a search.
A most excellent mod, IF you are careful with it.
Kinda like having a weapon and knowing how/when to use it cause it CAN break things if used with poor judgement.
