Battery Straps ?

I've been hearing a lound noise under the hood when I hit big bumps, I was thinking it was the front suspension. But I just noticed the batterys are sitting in a three sided box, not even strapped down. I'm sure what I'm hearing is the battreys bouncing around. Does anybody else have this problem?

I too have noticed a clunking/bumping sound up front. At first I thought it was possibly suspension related. I checked everything, all was tight nothing that could have made the noise. You may be on to something about it being the batteries. How really and totally stupid no to secure a battery well. Guess it's time to look at installing some hold downs. Time to peruse the billet stuff.

Genos offers billet battery tie downs, they don't list them for 2006 trucks just previous years. Probably others have some nice billet stuff as well, or go get the generic stuff. Guess we will have to have someone measue their stock batteries to see if these will work? Have to drill a hole or two, pick up some associated hardware, but better to tie them down than to be the way they are.

The batteries are held in place by a wedge on the bottom of the long inboard side of the battery trays. There is angled shape on the bottom of the battery that mates with the wedge. The wedge is bolted to the bottom of the battery tray.

Hope this helps!

I figured they would have the wedge/bolt clamping. My Jeep Sahara has the same type of battery hold-down. Periodically I have to tighten it, doesn't stay tight, the battery doesn't move from side to side against the wedge, it moves from front to rear, clunks a little, probably the same deal with the truck.

Guess I'll have to check it tomorrow.
