Bad Injector ???
Pulled it out shook it cleaned it reinstalled. I disco'd batteries and did the TPS reset also. NO luck... Neighbor who is a cummins wrench checked it out tonight and is 90% sure it is an injector due to the miss especially at slight rpms. on the hunt for an injector tomorrow and a infared thermometer to help find which cyl / injector is missing.
Your Cummins tech buddy might have the DR3 scan tool. If not try to find someone who does. You should be able to eliminate injectors until you find out which one it is. Also, you could pull the valve cover off and disconnect injector by injector till you find the one that does not make a difference and change that one.
I hope I said all that right!

Well kids I figured it out... Took off the valve cover and started disconnecting the injector wires one injector at a time. I could definatly hear a change in idle tone and sputtering with each one until I got to #5. No change there. Did the double blind test with the wife in the shop with me and she confirmed #5. Off to the local cummins dealer for a new injector and tube. Installed tonight in about 1.5 hours and she's smooth as can be again. Maby this method can help someone out and save some $$$ diagnosing a bad injector. cheers
