Automatic Transmission Won't Downshift When Stopped
Automatic Transmission Won't Downshift When Stopped
I've been having all kinds of problems with my truck (in sig) lately. Flexplate bolts stripped, a piece of the plate broke off and took out the torque converter. Dealer replaced the flexplate and torque converter. Front pinion bearing failed, broke into pieces and took out the front differential.
Anyway ... I towed for the first time today after having the front differential fixed and noticed when I stopped at a stop light that it seemed like the transmission didn't downshift into first when I stopped. I was stopped for several seconds. It seemed like I was taking off in second gear. At the next light, I manually shifted down to first and then back up to drive before taking off. Power and gearing seemed normal.
Any thoughts?

I had something goofy like this happening with mine. Wouldn't shift out of gear when coming to a stop and would stall out the truck. Ran like hell. Turned out to be an abs wheel sensor had water in the plug. Supposedly it tells the trans how fast yer going and alters gears based on that. IDK.
