automatic transmission problems

i have an 04.5 dodge 2500 4x4 it has started to have problems shifting. first it was from third to fourth and now is having trouble shifting from 2-3. i haven't had any issues with the transmission prior to this. I have had the fluid and filter replaced, but this has not helped the issue, the transmission fluid that came out was dark, but did not look and or smell burnt. Could this be an issue with the bands or pressure governor? Could it be a shift solenoid? I do not have a lot of experience working on transmissions if it is one of these problems could i fix it myself, with help and/or instructions? Or should i not even bother and just replace transmission? The truck only has 133k miles on it and an quadzilla programmer on it, any help would be greatly appreciated.

If your starting to see dark fluid chances are you have higher then normal clutch material debris ware happening. That is part of you issues, it's plugging the OEM solenoid. A billet one will let more go by lessening the the issue for a long period. A new OEM solenoid will plug up soon and you'll be right were you were. It will be only a temporary fix.
I say this as this was what has happened to me and other on the site. I didn't heed the warning signs and just did a billet gov/solenoid kit as well a band adjust and got another 15k till same issue arrived plus other issue as a result. At this time I dropthe pan and it was very dark and lots of clutch debris. So just be mindful of a hidden issue that might be there. I see you have a performance enhancing device. Those help speed up trans flaws as well cause the power is nice but take its toll. Just food for thought.

You can lose the attitude Joe....

If you would have searched the forum you would have found about 3,000 posts that address this very issue. I know because I searched it and I just posted my own findings that are uber similar to what you are experiencing.

Check your band adjustments, my front band was quite worn and most likely the reason my magnet was full of debris and my fluid was darker. I replaced the solenoid with a GM solenoid and all is well with my tranny for now, but I know the end is near....

Good luck!
