As the title says, i am not sure which auto I have?

My truck is a SO, has the 10.5 rear, the build date is 12/02, and the new vehicle options flyer says i have the 47RE.

Heres whats really wierd. Last summer i took it in to a tranny shop hoping to get my surging cruise control figured out. While they tried to figure it out one of the mechs told me i had the 48RE.

So this is my question. Is there any way to tell what auto you have by looking at it from the outside?


PS: My truck shifts into OD at 45 while my dads 06 shifts at 50???
Just another twist to the saga i guess.

 

look at the VIN#, if the 8th digit over isnt a "C" then it means its a SO motor, which is a 47re... the build date for the 48re are after 12/02... hope this helps

 

Thanks, I was pretty sure of the 47RE. Well the guy at the tranny shop was Canadian. hahaha
