Anyone know of a ODB II reader for your laptop that will work on 5.9?

Many here have had good luck with the autoenginuity. It does diesel and brake system I think, as well as can set parameters like speedo factor.

I have the 'autoEnginuity' software and cable. I also got the extended package for Chrysler vehicles, because it has enhanced features and capabilities for our trucks (and any Mopar product newer than '96, I believe). Some features depend on the year of vehicle, on the 06 it can do cylinder cutout and transmission re-training, among others.

The autoEnginuity looks awesome. How much does it cost? I looked on the website but could not find it.

Since fuel pressure and boost pressure can be read from the OBDII port, why are there no gauges that can hook into the wire harness to read these instead of taping fuel lines and drilling holes? I am guessing that the gauges would probably be much more expensive and not be real good sellers. Would be kind of nice to have Plug and Play gauges

cylinder cutout is only a test. If you think you have a bad injector, or something wrong with only 1 or 2 holes, the computer will let you turn each cylinder off individually, then you listen / feel if it makes a difference. If the cylinder is good (compression, fuel, power) then you will feel the truck shake a bit more, and hear the engine pulled down a bit. Then turn that one back on and go to the next one. If there's no change in how the engine runs, you've found the dead/weak cylinder.

It only turns the fuel off, the valves still open and close, so I wouldn't recommend running for any length of time with a cylinder cutout. Before I got the software tool, I took my truck to a diesel shop and they did the cutout test when they suspected a bad bearing.
