Any Tech.'s In The House

Can anyone figure out how to do this TSB on a manual transmission? I would rather not be forced to add aftermarket switches, wires, and relays to something that can be taken care of by programming.

Is there a tech. on the board that can try this to a manual tranny and see if it will achieve the same results??

Is there any reason this programming would not work on a manual or is the TSB just a suggestion for the autos.

Any ideas at all would be greatly appreciated.

Please and Thanx.

Kerry

I don't have a new pick-me-up yet to take to a dealer to try. BUT, I'll take the beers just the same.

I'm just trying to line stuff up for when I do buy. I just picked up my '98 from the tranny shop. 10600 km and fourth auto tranny. The rest of the truck is great, but it's days are numbered due to the tranny problems. One of you could try this TSB on your new truck and let me know.

A little tip from your ol' Uncle Kerry......do not buy a Dodge/DC auto tranny if your going to use your truck for anything other than a grocery getter. Skip that. Don't buy any auto trannied anything.....they're crap!!

I've tried it on an 03....no go. I've done a ton of 04 autos and tried to do an 04.5 (600) and it didn't work. Tech had no answer for me when I asked. Manual has different controller, update will not work. You need an engineer, not a tech, to figure that one out.

ps....STICKS ARE FOR POPSICLES!! I love my AUTO equipped CTD

I had that TSB applied to my truck in hopes of getting it to work on my six shooter as well.......no go......service mgr rambled something off about the ecm having different version numbers and that is why it didnt work......however on the bright side of things i am now getting 4 to 5 better mpg!......you see they did apply that TSB, however they could not enable that feature that TSB describes

Brandon507- The TSB in question is for using the cruise control to ramp up the idle speed no matter what the outside air temp. The 3rd gen trucks all have a cold weather high idle from the factory. It ramps up a few hundred RPMs if the outside air temp is under 32 deg and the truck coolant is under a certain temp. It only stays up till you touch any of the footfeet or put it in gear.
