Another 48re bites the dust

Hey everyone, today my 48re descided it was time to stop working, which i am suprised it has lasted this long, bought the truck with 68,000km put a bully dog triple dog in, and it got me to 98,600km's, before the trans decided to pack it in, the good news is the dealership is warrentying the transmission cuz i cant afford a billet trans yet, second and third gear bands are toast and theres a posiblilty the front drive clutch is toast as well, so i took my bully dog out and so when the new trans is in, i ant doing a thing to my truck till i get a billet trans.

Not to start an arguement but it is my opinion that guys like you are the reason the dealer is so picky about its warranty and why the price of the trucks are so high.If you want to play you must be able to pay not pass the bill to the dealer!!!I burnt my trans up at 26,000 miles and the truck sat for almost 6 months before I could afford a billet trans.Sorry to be rude but That is how I feel

I agree with you but If he can not afford to pay for damages that the program he added then he should not play and not pass the buck of to some else On your coolant hose you did not do that it was a product failure.

hummm 2 wrongs don't make a right...

I have mixed feelings about some warranty repairs.. Maybe if everyone was honest and didn't try and defraud DC they would fix all of our problems.. But with so many performance enhancers out there and DC loosing a bunch of money they are scrutinizing suspect repairs more carefully.

Lets see.. If I walked up to you on the street and said to you..

Hey my transmission just broke and I can't afford to fix it so can you give me $1,000 .. would you give it to me???

if you walk into a hardware store buy a light bulb walk out and throw it on the ground breaking it.. should the hardware store replace it because it should have been shatterproof?

Because of these forums most of us know the limitations of our trucks, but we still push the performance envelope of them KNOWING we can cause damage.. Then when they do break some remove all the performance mods and try and make someone else pay for their poor decisions.

DC is not your Mommy or Daddy. be responsible for your actions... and it may make it easier when something does legitimately break on our trucks..

And knowing you are going to break it.. doing it anyway and bragging about pulling one over on the dealer says wonders for your character...

I believe in play and pay, too. It's not so bad cuz every time I fix something I also upgrade. I end up with a stronger truck that I know got fixed right. Craig

I never post on these because it is a waste of time, but I am curious Rpainter, do you have a warranty? You make these statements above, but from another post of yours

"I have a 04.5 with a 5 inch exhaust no cat, leveling kit with 35'S , airraid cold air intake, and a bullydog downloader that I take off in the dealership lot and a entire glacier fuel system and my dealer has never said anything about my warranty being voided??!!It really all depends on the dealer."

why do you take the bullydog downloader off?

anyway

hey, if they made the bucks off of you selling you the box, then they should eat the tranny bill. They need to make up their minds also.

When my trans went out I replaced it not passed the bill onto the dealer.I took the truck to the dealer to have two cold start reflash and I had a problem with the lift pump low pressure.Bully dog said that it would be best to take the program off due to they were not sure if it would affect the program.I have never broke my truck out playing and took it to th edealer to be fixed.I replaced everything.

48RE on the 2003 models, check the 8th digit on the VIN #. If it is a C, then the transmission is a HO48RE. If the digit is a 6, then the transmission is a 47RE
