Amsoil The Myth
They are not marketing it as a diesel-specific oil, even tho it contains no friction modifiers and has a diesel specific additive package. The benefit is 1. Mobil doesn't have a 5w40 oil. 2. People with gassers will run it as well, so they will sell a lot more d1. One of those high volume low margin over high margin low volume type of approaches I guess.
Some folks have seen d1 at wal marts but usually in canada. If you have it locally, you are lucky!

I'll have to check again on the D1, but I'm almost certain that I've seen it on the shelves of my local Walmart. I could be wrong, but that kind of thing hardly EVER happens.
I hope you find it! I'd be interested to hear what the price was. I really hope mobil sells this relabeled d1 in the gallon size jugs right along with delo, 1300, and rosmelly! That surely would help with the price.
lightman and hoss, like Delmar said in the movie "oh brother where art thou"
I'M WITH YOU FELLERS!
PS dodge just installed a new short block in my truck at 85000 mi. #5 spun bearing, and also a bad fuel pump [1 psi] was replaced, all warranty covered.Although the first dealer was a joke and the second dealer gave me excellent service and did the job, neither asked for oil or service records. installing dealer did however examine the oil in the failed motor and reported it as having metalic in it . I had just changed to amsoil 5/30 3000 with bipass. FYI STY
