Wasn't a claim.Dana stunk.Blamed it on a older retiring work force and poor quality from younger employees.Chrysler warned, ranted and gave Dana fair warning that if the quality was not better and warranty issues dropped they would change vendors.Had some days in the dealer I worked at that I had 6 or more Jeeps and Trucks in the shop getting diffs repaired. Then Dana started sending us whole assembly's to swap out. Some of them ONLY made one test drive and were no good and swapped out assembly's again. It was a DAILY issue.

I'll blame management for poor training and inadequate quality control. I miss the days when Dana ruled and you could depend on their strong, reliable axles. I just hope AAM doesn't go away.

What do you base your opinion on? Do you own a truck?

Yes please tell us what you are basing your claim on, I know I have had no problems with my American Axle.

I don't even know anyone who has had trouble with their American Axles or Diff's.

And I know Dozens and Dosens of 3'rd Gen trucks!

I've had no issues with the axles themselves. I think they have a great design, good quality and I'm happy. Can't say much for the front axle shaft u-joint which fail at 80k miles or so like clockwork....oh wait...that's considered part of the axle!

Seriously --- I hope they don't go under. Too many people unemployed already here in the US. We don't need more. Although losing Chrysler as a customer will undoubtly hurt them I feel upper management should stop giving themselves million dollar bonuses. Last I checked a bonus is a way for the company saying THANK YOU for a job well done....and should NOT be given out when a company is in financial trouble. One $10m so called 'bonus' could pay a number of workers salary for many years. Or maybe I'm just dumb and don't understand the meaning of a bonus.

About three years ago I got chatting with a worker from DANA axles in Ontario Canada. He mainly worked on big rig stuff but they were getting a rash of pick up truck axles sent to them to be remachined. I guess they had some majpr issues with teh housings not being true and it was casuing premature wear on the internals, the same was happening weith the big rigs. He sadi he didnt mind it all that much it meant lots of work for him and his co-workers.
As for AAM I hope they stick around, they make a decent product that will hopefully rival the early model Danas in reguards to longivity.

Never see a post on these Dodge sites about axel issues.Never.Dana lost a BIG account with Chrysler beause of issues, that had to hurt them badly.I would think that alone got their work force cut.
