air filtering system

i just got an 07 3500 slt dually auto 4X4 with a bully dog chip for the 5.9 w 4.11 gears, it will pull a house but the fuel mileage is rather poor, will a different air intake system help increase fuel economy and increase power:
if so, which system is the best?

Thanks in advance for the input!!

Anything you can do to let the engine breathe easier is good but don't expect any mpg gains that's just marketing snake oil. Your cheapest option would be to cheesebox the bottom of your stock airbox with a bunch of 3/4" holes, ditch the stock air filter, and put in one of the amsoil nano drop-ins. Or you could do a search for the famous "whilly's whistler" on this forum it has a 6" torque tube + an amosil nano and works really well. Can make one up for about $120 lots of us around here running them. Or you could fork out $300 or $400 for something a little nicer looking. There is one setup called the "Icebox" that is really sharp.

I ran the stock box, amsoil drop in, and had the Cool Power mod (which is a 4" hole on the bottom of the stock box, hose to bottom of fenderwell for more air intake) for the first yeat or so. I DID bring in more air, saw a little mpg gain if I kept my foot out of it, but what fun is in doing that???

I recently changed to the Icebox Intake, Amsoil nano, and the Outerwears. What a difference!!!!! I have a little hood interference at the plastic light on the hood though. Have to figure out how to solve it, otherwise I am really PLEASED with the Icebox. http://iceboxmanufacturing.com

Best part is with the nano and the outerwears my silicone is non-existant in oil tests. I have a little better throttle response, get to hear the turbo a little (I left in the silencer ring). I also am running the boost fooler, seems to spool up faster which gave a little to the lower end.

As far as the warranty stuff and the aftermarket CAI, I can prove what the stock filter did for dirt protection, what the amsoil nanao filter did (better filtration over stock), and now what the Icebox, nano and outerwears is doing - better over the other two. Is a win-win filtration setup with lots of additional air coming in. It also lowered my EGT's.
