ABS problem

Ok i was driving home and i noticed that the ABS and the Brake lights were on. i had a problem before with the abs light staying on and after looking at the truck i found that i had a wire on the front driver side was cut that fixed the problem that time. well this time it is something different. i got to the house and was gonna shut the truck off and see if it was still on after starting it back up. after i shut off the truck i heard a humming sound under the hood. popped the hood and found out that the hum was comming from what i am thinking is an ABS pump or module. it is a little box on the driver side between the battery and the fire wall. i had brake lines comming from the master cylinder and then back out. it also has a harness plugged in to the top maybe two harnesses. i had to disconect the negitive post on the battery. so now i don't want to drive it with out fixing it cause i don't want to mess anything else up. if anyone could tell me what it may be and if i could unplug it and still be able to drive.

Thanks,

Its your ABS Pump. Did the same on my 03. Had to replace the control module on mine and the problem stopped. I think it was about 700 Canaadian for that pump. I got lucky and got one off the junk yard for 300 and it has worked fine for quiet a while now. If you want it to stop the humming for now, just look on you fuse pannel for the ABS Module fuse. Pull it until you get it fixed.

Ya i got my module from a local junk yard here. Cost me 200 bucks. It was about 1/3 of the retail price from dodge.

Very important!!! I just had this happen to me too. If you do get an aftermarket or junk yard special, you will have to take it to some one who can program it for your specific vehicle. I think a dealer will charge about 100 to do the job, but other wise you'll still have the lights on even though the pump won't be running constantly.

They didnt on mine. i just used my smarty and it cleared it no problem. I was told that before and then i talked to a dealer and he said it didnt. Its only if u change the pump too i think. but the module is a generic part.
