Well every thing looked normal. The oil and the inside of the case was clean.

I refilled it with GL5 80W90 dino oil that doesn't contain friction modifiers. The Mobil 1 I have been using contains friction modifiers for use in posi units that contain chutches.
Well see

I'm not impressed with AAM at all with their labor cost cutting global manufacturing. My '03 Cummins powered Ram developed a driveline vibration by 40k miles that was bad enough to buzz change in the ashtray. Dodge gave up and said don't bring it back. I still think it was a defective pinion by the frequency of the vibration. Now, with my limp wristed 375ft/lbs "peak" Hemi powered 2500HD, the 10.5" AAM is flat worn out at 101k miles. It literally sounds like I have tractor tires on the rear while rolling down the road. It changes like the carrier bearings are shot as well. I changed the fluid every 15k with Mobil-1 75-140. It's getting rebuilt with a 4.56 R&P next week if AAM ever sends the gears and install kit. It was ordered two weeks ago from AAM. I think Chrysler took a big step down when they dropped Dana for the AAM howler. The rest of the truck is doing very well at 100k miles.

It appears the Trac-rite is working better now. The additives in the oil can make a differance in the way the Trac-rite works. Too slick and it doesn't want to lock. This is a differant working differential than other types and doesn't work like the ones with clutches. It works like a open differential and if one tire spins too easily it doesn't load the differential enough to lock it up. Something we're going to have to live with. Anyway mines holding up well to 1250 lbs of tq "something it's probley not designed for" so I'm ok with it.

You should have seemn DANA from the other end.At dealer level. They stunk. They were warned that if quality did not improve that dana would be dropped by Chrysler.Sure enough they were.Untold amounts of warranty claims.Dans said it was due to a aging, retiring work force and that the 'new'hires were creating huge problems for them.
