6speed Trans drain/fill plug

Does anyone know what tool it is to remove the drain and fill plug on the 6 speed standard trans (2006)? It does not look like the torque (t50,t60) bolts.

There is no drain plug on the 6 speed, you use the lowest bolt on the pto cover on the side of the transmission. I would recommend taking the cover off if this is the first drain because all the oil does not drain out by just removing the bolt. About a half a quart or better stays in the transmission. You will need some RTV for the cover.

The fill plug is a 17MM Hex wrench. A poor mans wrench is a 10MM bolt. I think it's a 10MM bolt, you can check by using a 17MM wrench on the head. Just double nut the bolt or weld a nut on and then use the bolt along with your 17MM wrench to take the plug out.

gnuesse, if your 2006 manual transmission is the same G56 model that is in my 2005, then it requires a 14 mm hex wrench to unscrew the drain plug at the bottom of the aluminum tranny case. The fill plug is on the right side of the tranny. The G56 drain plug has a permanent magnet moulded in the plug. The G56 6 speed manual is supposed to be a Mercedes transmission.

Sorry, didn't catch the 06 G56 model.
I was referring to the 05 and older NV5600 6 speed.

bluebull, no problem, but if you would fill out your signature it would enable readers to determine beforehand what your components are on your vehicle. Have a good new year.
