Here's a new one. Just called my dealership about it and they said to take it to a dealer that can access 70 MPH roads. He said that it will take them too long to get to a place that they can legally run at that speed.

Makes sense, but it's kind of funny, as in funny/sad.

I heard the same thing. Mine is at the dealer now for this. When they said that to me I said let the mechanic drive it home. He's got a 30 mile drive each way and I said great! They just don't pay these guys to drive vehicles around so all you get fixed is nothing since they can't duplicate the problem. It's worth it to let 'em have it.

A good dealer will figure out a way, including running it on the lift. They know darn well many people run cross country and cannot deal with the vibe.

My dealer said the same thing...they can't legally go 70. I told him to take it to Arizona where the limit is 75 I also told him they could ride with me, I can go 70, no problem

I looked out the window the other day and saw a county mounty with a jeep pulled over. I new the cop so I went out and talked to him. He said the guy he stopped was a mechanic from the Dodge dealer up the the street. He got him on the laser gun doin 73mph in a 35mph. The mechanic told him it had a vibration at 70 and he was just road testing it. He said he stroked him for the whole thing.

The funny part about it? The next street over is the EXPRESSWAY>>>>>

My dealer was able to duplicate it both on the road and on the lift. Rear driveshaft replacement cured it.

Hey,

I've been having the same problem with my new truck. It's a 2004 RAM 2500 4x4 Long Wheel Base. I haven't taken it to the dealer yet since I've been out of town most of the time since I bought the truck a month ago. I think I'll try to get it in this week to see if they find anything. I'll let you know if they do. )

Squidward, how did you get them to work on your truck. My dealership will not touch it. They tell me they can't touch it until DM comes up with a fix. They will not do anything. I've emailed everyone I know to get in touch with, I've filed a complaint to DM. Apparently at my dealership the squeeky wheel does not get any oil at all.
Please educate me on the tricks of the trade if there are any!! let me know what you come up with.
dsteinke..... GOOD LUCK.

Angry

If you are really frustrated file a complaint with the Better Buisness Bureau Arbitration service(BBB autoline). Tell them you want relief for an undriveable vehicle and you want the company to repurchase the vehicle. Usually you will receive an offer for an extended warranty or something little to appease you. Turn all offers down and tell them you will proceed to arbitration. Chances are you will get your truck fixed immediately heh they may even buy it back.

You guys are going to love this...... I just got my truck back from the dealer today for the vibe and they did an ALIGNMENT.... can you believe that? an Alignment... the service mgr says he talked to DC techline and they told him they have been seeing this problem and an ALIGNMENT usually fixes it... . HA HA....... they jacked my caster till it was "OUT OF SPEC" by almost a degree and told me to drive it..... I am ******..... It did take the edge off the vibe but not gone.... what a cracker *** job of fixing a problem... moving the caster to raise the pinion angle.... to unload the front driveshaft slightly..... OOOO I am ******.... the letter writing is about to begin.... funny thing was I just got my "new vehicle" survey in the mail yesterday asking if I was "satisfied" with my experiance.... the person opening that letter is going to have some fun reading!!!!

At least your dealer tried something. Mine won't even touch it until they are directed by the "tech line". I thought the guys at the dealership were certified mechanics,.... apparently they can't think for themselves.

I'll start by qualifying my statements with,..."this is my opinion". I have this problem on my truck. What I've seen is that the dealers have very little wiggle room for what they can and can't do when it comes to changing out high $ parts. It takes blessing from some team at DCX to warrant payment back to them for parts replaced. If they change out a part,...say the transfercase (which I believe to be the culprit) and if they send it in and DCX pulls it apart and finds no problem, then they charge the dealer back for parts and labor. That's their problem with helping us as I see it. Also after reading every post on this and doing search on this b-4 I even joined this site I will say only two people, who I think have the same problem as I do, achieved a fix and that was done by replacing the transfercase. A lot of other stuff is being done on different trucks, but it usually comes back to that. Now that is assuming that your truck was built after the TSB for the power steering hose weight situation &/or that you had that situation fixed via the TSB. I believe I have read about (2) 2wds that have had it (the vibration) which is about .00000000001 of all who have the vibration. The constant element here is the transfercase. Also a couple guys have had a shaft replaced, usually the rear one (some were welded wrong at the yoke) and they have achieved a fix. They would account for .000000000002 of all the problems out there. When you look and listen I think common sense leads you back to the transfercase and because of the aforementioned reasons why the dealer is hesitant to do what is necessary until DCX puts out a TSB for the replacement. I believe filing complaints (written); calling the 800 number in your owner's manual; and lastly, all of us sending e-mail to our editors of this site and Diesel Truck Resource to publish our discontent.... and hopefully for them to take up the cause with DCX,....these are going to probably be the best ways to achieve a solution. As I said,...my opinion.

I really want no vibration. If that means a transfercase,..so be it.
