6-speed transmission squeal/squeak

Hello,

I have a 06 with the g56 6-speed transmission and 256k miles on the odo. I replaced the clutch and flywheel with a SBC 2 years ago. My 5th gear syncros are out, but that isn't a major issue, but I started to develop a squeal or squeak at idle. if I hold the rpm's at 800 it stops. If I get under the truck and push on the transmission it stops. I tried using a stethoscope but I can't seem to pin point the squeal. Short of pulling the transmission out, what would be probable causes for this squeal? this isn't a daily driver, I only use it when I need a truck to pick up something or if I need to tow. I am a little afraid of towing with it and the possibility of the transmission breaking if I put a load on it. Should I look at getting a rebuilt transmission or could this be something as simple as a throwout bearing squealing. It doesn't stop squealing when I push in the clutch, so I kind of think it's not the bearing.

TIA!

Something is loose! Check the bellhousing bolts.

I'd be looking at the mounts and cross member as well.

I took a good long look last night and everything is tight but what I didnt think to look at was the exhaust. So I fired it up and pull on the down pipe a little and the squeal stopped. I was like you uave to be kidding me. I pulling the turbo this week to replace tge gasket from the manifold to turbo and I will replace the 4" down pipe with another one I have. I think where the dp connects to the exhaust might be where its coming from although that is all connected tightly. Sure beats pulling the transmission for the time being.... Still doesn't fix my 5th gear .syncros but I can live for now.....

Thx

Cool. Funny how loose stuff can sound like a bearing sometimes.
