If you've only ever known ford I say stick with it... I've known both and my 07 has 43k and had two problems but it has taken me many places, pulled many trailers and it's nice enought to leave me stranded only several miles from my house. Unlike my 03 f250 that left me more than 4x stranded more than 150 miles away at 62k. All trucks have issues if ford or chevy drove flawless than nobody would drive a CTD I live in Texas and here more than 55% of the diesel trucks on the road are dodge. Something has to be right.

I have had zero problems with my truck. It is used mostly for longer trips with occasional towing. The truck is stock and I get 20+ mpg rolling solo at 70 mph. This is my second Cummins and the previous one has over 400k miles. I don't know what was wrong with the Dodge that you drove, but my stock truck with 325 hp and 610 lbs. of torque has no trouble at all getting across intersections before the light changes. One of the things I love about this truck is how little time I have to spend on the wrong side of the road when passing.

I'm a little confused about your first sentence. Are you saying stay with Ford if that is all I have had in the past? If so, why? Just curious.
My father has a 95 12V Cummins and it has been a great truck for him. I have always loved the extra fuel mileage (and sound!) of the Cummins. 20mpg would be nice for a change!

But in the US as a whole Ford sells 9 diesel trucks for each Dodge diesel truck. Something has to be right also.

P.S. and Chevy/GMC is not far behind Ford either on sales.

Buyers remorse, don't do it if you not sure.

I said Texas, every 5 trucks you see three are cummins. I would check your statistics throught a more reliable source. I checked too and it said 4 Chevys sell for every cummins and powerstrokes sold. You can't really believe that, it's called advertising.

Last numbers I seen were Ford over 200,000 F series with diesel, Chevy/GMC around 180,000 with diesel, and Dodge 29,000 with diesel. This is sales figures for US.

Can you link a source to those numbers? Those percentages are no where near what I see in my part of the country.

The part of the country matters. I went to texas this last weekend and like he said, almost all of the trucks were dodge. Here in south carolina its probably 50% ford 30% dodge 20% chevy.

I'm not sure i agree with the statement about the motor being medium duty and needing to be run hard to keep it running good. Im not saying running it hard kills it by any means. I'm just saying that i dont think how you use it really has an effect on its overall performance. My 06 has 45,000 miles on it and only about 1000 have been with anything behind it. most of the miles are 45mph and less and its been flawless. you cant baby it anymore than that i wouldnt think.

Lets just say I have had more repairs and upgrades just to get it to do its job efficiently then 5 japenese cars combined and then some. Wish it were not so. This needs to change if america is going to ever be a competive auto maker. Honestly, I am just waiting for the next thing to break. I understand my ball joints should be crapping soon and I will need to change my track bar. What a sad joke.

The info I got was from automotive digest that says ford sells 200K-250K f series diesel trucks a year. GM sells 100K trucks with the Duramax and dodge sells 80K with diesel a year. I mis stated that dodge was selling around 29,000 a year.
