4x4 question

I recently picked up a 2003 Ram 2500 4x4 quad cab. My question is:

Is the front axle turning all the time?
I noticed when my wife was moving the truck the other day that the front driveshaft was turning.

Any help would be great. I had a 95 that had the front axle vacuum disconnect on it. Just wondering on this one.

Thanks

Yes it is always engaged. There is no center axle disconnect or locking hubs. The only engagement is the transfer case.
