Will try to keep this short:

Someone moved my truck by just throwing the transfer case in neutral and pushing the truck (not far just in the driveway).

I got in later to head home and it was in 2WD but the 4x4 indicator light was on. I played with it some and it is completely backwards right now. If I put the transfer case in 2WD it shows 4x4 on the dash. If I put in into 4x4 the light goes out!

This only started happening after the truck was moved.

Any suggestions?

Ummmm...... I got nothing


Maybe unhook the batteries for a few min? Or unhook the switch and try going from 4x4 to 4x2 a few times?

 

^^^That was my thought too.....do you have a manual or auto t-case?

Go ahead and disconnect the battery as the first troubleshoot. If that doesn't work, start tracing wires. I don't know what the sensor or switch looks like. Any chance the connection was intentional swapped to be opposite?

It's a manual T-case and for now I just unplugged the wires going to the switch. I'm assuming the switch itself got messed up and when I get a chance to pull it and fix it I will do so but for now I'm just happy that the light is off.
