48Re slip question

The other day, pulling a moderate sized rv trailer, my transmission slipped I think-

The tranny had just entered lockup- at 85km/h and as I was accelerating up a hill, i noticed my tach pick up a couple hundred RPM.

i let off the throttle and back into it- every thing was normal afterwards. No more slippage felt.

I continued to drive for an hour though the mountains without any more difficulty.

The question is- do you think I was experiencing slippage due to worn clutches or could it have just been a bad shift or something on the transmissions part.

My oil was recently flushed - 20 000km ago - and there doesnt seem to be any smell or dark discoloration from the oil

My truck has 210 000km - rarely towed city driven
My smarty is on setting 3.

I have no other shifting issues, slippage or otherwise noted on my transmission.

Thanks in advance.

You may have felt the TCC engage then immediately disengage until you let out of the throttle.

Saggonwagon- I never considedered that it shuttled back out of overdrive-......that would make me eversomuch happier if thats the way it was.

Yup. Sounds like the TC unlocked - especially if you were accelerating up hill with a load.
