48re not starting off in 1st
48re not starting off in 1st
Today one of our company 2006 2500s starting acting weird. Accelerating from a dead stop, it is starting off in 2nd gear sometimes, and drive most of the time. If you manually shift it into first, it will start in 2nd, but not first. Just left to do its own thing, it starts in drive, gets up to 50 or so, and shifts into OD and the converter locks like normal. Just yesterday the truck drove 100% normal, never had a hint of any tranny issues, today its a different story.
The truck has 130,000 on it, and has had the fluid changed probably 3 or 4 times. All stock, and driven pretty easily its whole life.
Any chance the solenoid and transducer that cause all the 1-2-1-2 and 2-3-2 shifting have anything to do with this? Anybody have any other ideas?
Thanks for your help

I'm pretty sure you hit the nail on the head. On the 47re I know that if the governor pressure sensor and solenoid(transducer), go bad than the trans won't start out in 1st gear. I have a relative at the moment with that exact problem on a 01 47re, and I would figure it would cause the same thing to happen in the 48re. If you just replace both of those you should be good to go.

I hope that's the problem. It was just strange to me that the solenoid and sensor would go bad but have never once had a 1-2-1 or a 2-3-2 issue on this truck.
GoodOleKyle,
I had the same problem with mine onetime it ran OK the next it had a hard time going. They said mine was starting out in 3rd, the tech said its was the valve body and that its was always a good idea and cheaper to to replace the solenoid & valve body at the same time. Once it was replaced it worked great, oh mine only had just over 33K when it went out and it never had the 1-2 or 2-3 shift problems.
