Exactly the same problem here on the 06 and had the same leak on an 04.
Both clamps were loose on both trucks. A 5/16th socket on a long extention is way easier than a screwdriver.

Not a drop has leaked since I tightened those clamps, now at 25,000 miles.

Angry

my 04 leaks too, however it is the tranny input seal around the torque converter. Dodge says "it is the breather". and they didn't want to do anything about it. I see no way the fluid can go forward and down behind the converter!!!!

Noticed the same thing today. I thought well great, a transmission leak. It did not smell like coolant to me, but my nose has been broken a few times and is no longer my greatest sense. THANKS DTR for helping me diagnose my problem. Took a 1/4" ratchet with a 5/16" extension socket and tightened the clamp that was leaking COOLANT down onto the bellhousing. Much better than taking a trip to the dealer. Once again THANKS DTR for the help.

HAHA Had the same thing with my 07.

I told them it was leaking from the bell housing. They couldnt find any problems and of course wouldnt leak when it was in the garage. They figured it was the clamp on the hose after the second time I called to say it REALLY is leaking.

I also did know the coolant was red. After years of looking for neon green...
RED always meant BADDD news lol

Ah crap. I just took mine in this morning. Was out of town all weekend, looked under my truck this morning and had a 12" puddle. I crawled under and it looked like it was coming from the transmission as it had streaks running down the side of it and on the pan, but I couldn't tell for sure.

We'll see what they say about it. Had another issue I needed looked at anyway.

Thanks again DTR!!! Friday, I found a single drip of a pinkish fluid on the garage floor. Looked underneath and saw the drip coming from the inspection plate - just as others have reported. Today, with the help of this post and included photo, I inspected the coolant hose and sure enough it was wet. I tightened both clamps.
So once, again guys. This place rocks! Thanks! PCM

Just checking on here before I tear into my truck, but I saw red fluid on the floor today, and it's slippery with not much smell.... I'm going to go check this clamp right now....

Yep, the leak is at the hose... Man am I glad I checked here.

And it's easy to get at the clamps from above, I tried for 10 minutes from below and can't reach them. Came topside and there they were....

Awesome post! Been having the tranny leak for awhile now. Read this post, went and took a look, and sure enough, the leak was clearly visible coming from that upper hose clamp. You could see it and the path it took down the block to the tranny inspection cover. Tightened it with a 5/16 socket on a long extension - NO MORE LEAK!!!!
