48re 120,000mile question

As stated I have a 48re and I am about to turn 120k... I have done my regular services every 30,000 miles. The only problem I have had is the 1-2 shuttle shift.

When I do my 120k service I was going to replace the governor sensor and solenoid. I have also thought about putting in the 48re Transgo Shift Kit.

So here is my question. Will putting all of this on a Trans with 120k lead to premature failure of internals due to increased preasures?

I'm just not sure. I'd like to have more solid and stable shifts, but I'm just not in a position to rebuild the Trans right now! I really don't want a hopeful improvement to cause me alot more money in the near future because the trans with 120k miles just couldn't handle it.

Ideas or suggestions? Am I being overly concerned here? Would the shift kit actually help the trans last longer by reducing slippage?

Thanks for any input,
Mark

There's a kit that is being used that converts our governor solenoid to a GM electronic unit and it actually uses GM parts. This kit cures the 1-2 shifting issues in many cases. I'm not sure on the specifics, but I will be soon as I'm having it done to my Suncoast. Yes a VB is always a good upgrade if the pressure are with in line.
