47RE case broken will 2005 48RE Trans work?

Started to rebuild and upgrade my 47RE from 2003 4x4. Rebuilder called and said the case was toast. I can't find a 47RE case anywhere but can get an 05 low mileage used 48RE trans at reasonable price. Has anyone any info on making this work. If I can, I am looking at simply installing this trans and making the rig work. If I have to rebuild the 48re with 47RE internals I may as well wait and see if I can find a case that works. Thanks very much for any info.

I think cases are the same, its the guts that are a bit different. Shouldnt your trans builder know the answer?

He has not retrofitted one before so he is nor sure of the TV cable/actuator situation. I figured if it has been done and works well, someone here will know. The cases will bolt up the same, guts/valve body different. I would rather find out what would work before I buy the 48RE, but then again don't want to miss out on the deal.
