3rd gen driveline hell
3rd gen driveline hell
Got an 05 longbox quadcab 4x4, 5.9. A real truck right? I am about to give it away I am so frustrated. Had about 500 miles on an overhaul, 300k on the truck. Took a trip and had a pretty substantial driveline vibration, I couldnt find the ujoint and didnt want to take the time to take it in while away. Well it found me but we were close to home, the front driveshft cv was out and it broke my transfer case into pieces on the interstate. Got a new tranfer case and a local driveline shop with a great reputation built a new front drive shaft. Transmission shop put me back together, all new u-joints in rear, and carrier bearing. Went to pick it up, pretty substantial shaking at 5-6 mph, came back at 60-65. I took it back, they returned the new driveshaft and made them recheck that it was out like .004. He said the yokes on the transfer case and front diff were perfect. I got it again and the 5-6 mph shaking is gone but the high speed vibration is just as bad. The tranny shop is wanting to get into my front dif, or blame it on my tires. I know this problem developed the moment my transfer case came apart. Anyone got any pointers with this? I have dumped 11k into the truck this summer and havent even got to drive it. My patience is running low any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated.
