Does anyone's truck have a check engine light that flashes before start? Comes on like it should before start then flashes for 5 seconds then solid again. Once truck is started, no light and truck appears to run fine. Owner's manual states that this happening means "truck is not ready for emissions testing." What does this mean? Been to two different dealers a couple of times each and although I've heard "that's weird" I'm told "After speaking to star, that there is no problem so there is no fix." I have not seen or heard of another truck doing this and I don't want mine doing it either. Any insight would be much appreciated. Going to 3rd dealer tomorrow. Total of 5 times in for same incident. Lemon Law? I hope not. I just want it fixed. For piece of mind, please check yours and report your findings. I would certainly appreciate it. Especially those with Cali SO editions.

Other than this ongoing concern, very happy with truck.

 

isn't that normal? it is telling you the ign. is on, and the engine is not running. i haven't looked closely at mine, but i think it does it too...

 

Just to clarify what he is reporting.

On with the other lights (ABS, Brake, WTS, etc),
then flashes for 5 seconds,
then solid, but turns off once truck is running.

Sorry man, no flash on mine. Sounds C-A-R-B related though, we have a different program than most the others out here I think to make our CAT work. Maybe you could ask them to run a smog check or something like that? Is your rig totally stock?

 

Thanks for replies. Dealer is now ordering new instrument panel. Star has told them that it appears to be a glitch in panel. Truck is stock. 4 previous trips and told nothing is wrong/ can't find problem. Mention lemon law and now they are doing something. Hope it works, or I think it qualifies.
