35" tires=additional clutch wear????

Fall of 07 I installed 2.25" pucks up front and 2" blocks in the rear and 35" bfg at's. Will the 35's increase clutch wear? I have got 100k on it now and it seams that since I did this the clutch engagement has been getting shorter and shorter. Before with 285's I would start in 2nd, with the 35's I use first unless on a downhill. I'm sure I have some life left in the clutch, but if the 35's will increase clutch wear I don't want to get another set. Maybe some 295 nittos. Snow traction is a must, live in Colorado. Thoughts???

Also, when it comes time to do a clutch I have been looking into a Luk with the sm flywheel. Any one running one of these? Can it handle Superchip on perf mode? Stock won't. Stock will not handle the tow tune at sea level. At least this one. Thanks.

bigger, heavier wheels and/or tires are going to require a ton more energy to get moving. So, yes, they will increase wear. Our trucks are big, heavy and we tend to, ummmm, drive them pretty enthusiastically. If you don't tow anything too heavy, go with a South Bend ConOfe, I believe Peter now has them with the ferrous flywheel so they are less expensive. Anything less isn't likely to last very long, IMO.

Short simple answer---yes. By putting the bigger tires on you changed your gear ratio which means on take-offs it takes a bit more to get it going. That is where the most wear occurs.

If you have 4:10's they won't make as big a difference as running 3:73's.

I have close to 100,000 miles on mine and have not noticed any difference in the clutch. I do drive the truck 'enthusiastically', but I also seldom touch the accelerator before the clutch is fully engaged.
