30 Hp A/c
It's my understanding that the 610s have a feature where maximum horsepower is only possible when the A/C is on - otherwise, peak power is 30 HP less...
... can anyone who KNOWS for sure confirm or deny?
What is it's purpose - surely not for the compressor, maybe for the engine fan? That's still a lot of power for a relatively low rpm set of blades, and wouldn't the fan clutch negate it's benefit unless you're stuck in traffic?
Somehow the parasitic losses caused by the Ram's less than perfect (should I say "not too cool") A/C system don't seem to add up to 30 ponies, but the slide rule crew at DC must've had their reasons...

I don't know for sure, but I have a real hard time buying that D/C made two different fuel maps in the ECU,one for no a/c,& another for with the a/c on.Seems like a lot of $$$ for no real gain.I've also tryed to see if it was true by running hard with the a/c off,& then turnong it on.NO change. If the engine were to suddenly put out 30 extra ponies when the a/c was turned on,I think I would feel it.My .02 worth.

as the fords I used to drive; and because there's been plenty of complaints on the forum from dodge owner about the a/c cooling

I also can't understand the complaints on the AC mine works great and I very seldom go past the lowest blower setting . Even on the lowest setting on 90% days my wife sits with the heated seat on . Have you had yours looked at , it sounds like you have a problem . When the truck is parked out side I do notice it takes time to cool off at first and with all the black in the cab that is justified . The dash really soaks up the heat when parked in the sun on mine . I am sure glad of the zone heating and cooling option other wise the heater would drive me out on the lowest setting and my wife would be freezing in the summer . I think you need to take yours to a good AC shop not the dealer and have it fixed . Once again our warranty is a joke , but if you want it fixed right that is what I would suggest .
Find it hard to believe..
Because on my '05 if I am on the throttle 100% it declutches the A/C pump anyways. Try it.. Run WOT for about 10 seconds and see how warm your A/C suddenly gets.
Most vehicles (newer anyways) will shut the A/C pump off when you are Wide Open..
So it doesn't make sense that you would only get that power when the A/C is on. Considering at least in my truck it goes off when you floor it.
