[QUOTE=SSminnow;1691566]Th front is a different axle, and depending on what year, should be a Dana60
His axles are AAM. Dana went out long ago.

Yeah, that is what I thought. Just making sure. That was my point was when he said he could not find the gear for a "front" AAM 11.5. I was like, well, they won't have a "front" ring and pinion for one. And two, it would be a different axle anyway from the rear of course, not the 11.5
Actually the breakdown is closer to:
Rear R&P $325.
Rear Master Install Kit $150
Front R&P $223
Front Master Kit $82
Total of $780 in parts and the balance for Labor, oil and shop supplies.
So not as bad as one thinks. They are both AA Axles. Sure you can save $ by doin it yourself, or having it done afterhours somewhere. The important thing to me is the quality of the work, it will be done the same day, and they'll back up the install. Worth every penny in my book.
Thanks for everyones input, ill keep you posted on how it turns out.

You found the fronts too? I could not find them! Please post where you found them. I am also very interested in the outcome. It kills me watching and listening to my engine running that fast while cruising down the highway. Plus the fuel economy.

Yes, I will post both the before and after results of the gear swap including RPM and Mileage. If its something that works out, I have no problem sharing the results with others. Thanks for everyones input.
I kind of thought this before, but if I drive 55mph on flat level areas with the gear vendors on in sixth gear turning 1300 rpms with a dually, I have seen 24.9 on the overhead. How accurate, dont know. Just what I have seen. Suprised the hell out of me. This is a 4x4 as well. Off the subject, filled up the jetta this morning, 688 miles/14.52 gallons of fuel = 47.38 mpg. I love this car.

WOW!!! Who is doing your R&P swap?
R&P about $180-$200x2=$360-$400 for gears. That is leaving you $1000 in labor plus some fluid and a couple of seals. OUCH. I hope they are using ______
