285/70/17's on my dually?
I recently came across a almost unimaginable deal on a set of 285/70/17 fierce attitude mtr's for my 05 dually. Can anyone give me some insight on the clearance issue it looks like I might have between the duals?
I really cant stand to pass up the deal im getting on these, but if the wont fit without any kind of major upgrades, then so be it. im just hoping they wont be much wider than my 235/80/17's

So with some research, I have found that the 285's will NOT clear without a spacer... And I have found mixed reviews on the 265's fitting without small spacers (1/2").
Anyone have any advice on the best spacers out there for the money? It seems to be that if i read 500 stories saying aluminium spacers are awesome, there are 5 horror stories that go along with it and say they are junk. I like the idea of having steel spacers, especially in NY, i know steel rusts but aluminum on steel isnt fun when they need to be taken apart either.
I guess im looking for some reviews between aluminum spacers on ebay for $120, or custom steel spacers from $300 and up. I tow my 10k 5er about 7 times a year, a dump trailer full of firewood most weekends during the fall, and my gooseneck whenever the need rises at about 14k.

285s fit very well with a 1.5" spacer, but you have to trim the end of all your wheel studs to use a 1.5" spacer. The 2" doesn't require any trimming, but you will have more than enough room between the duals. Probably almost 2".... To me, the most important part of the wheel spacers is the hub centric lip that some have machined into them. You can find aluminum ones on ebay with this lip, or the steel spacers. I'm sure the steel spacers are stronger, but I opted for aluminum on my truck. The hub centric lip is the only way to really get the outer wheel centered. Here is a picture I found on google:
thanks for the advice folks, i wish i could find more people with opinions for or against spacers on a truck that tows... I guess i'm leaning towards the 265's... even tho i still think they will need a 1/2" spacer, which makes me still want the 285's because they need spacers too. I like the looks of the the new BFG KM2's, they make them in 255/80/17 and that works out to a 33x10, something a little taller to fill the wheel wells, which is what im looking for. but reviews say that they arent that great in the winter, which is what i need....
anyone else have opinon on the spacers? if i get a set it will definetly be 2" and hub centric now, im just looking for people to build my confidence a little bit.

Ive been running 2" steel spacers from Arrowcraft for a few yrs now. Tow several times a yr with no issues. Had some ebay aluminums before and they didnt center the wheel which caused a vibration. If you go with the hub centric lip like pictured above, you will more than likely have to get the bore of the outer wheel enlarged to fit over it. Arrowcraft uses 5/8" lugs( 9/16" factory) and provide a reamer with the spacers.
