Are the 2007 5.9s quieter than the 2003-05 5.9 motors?

Yes, I had a 98.5 and it was loud. My 2001 was just as loud, my 2002 is still loud. My 04.5 was QUIET, my 06 was QUiet... and my 07 5.9 seems to be just as quiet as the 06 however..

 

Ive drove 03's-05's and know how they sound. Im not too familiar with the 06 and 07 5.9s yet

 

yes they are quite, compared to the older 24v's

 

The 04.5-07 are a little quieter than 03-04s, but its not much.

 

Yes. They have 5 injection events per power stroke as opposed to 3 for the 03-04.

Compared to my 01 FORD PSD, my 07 CTD is very quiet, like a gasser almost.

 

You are thinking 6.7l. The 03-07 5.9 is 3 injections per.

 

That's what I've read, the 5 events with the new computer came out for the 6.7.

 

I thought I read many times that the 3 injection event was 05/07? 03/04 was two and 6.7 was five.

 

Third injection events started with the 04.5 trucks (325/600).

Everyone commented on how quiet my 07 was when I got it. After towing a couple times it has noticeably gotten louder, but for a diesel, it is still relatively quiet.

 

When you say louder, does it have more of an injector clatter. After towing my boat like I stole it down the highway to break in the 5.9 Cummins a little and then towing a trailer down to NC from NJ mine seems to have gotten louder. I can't tell if it's just a Cummins thing (new to Cummins but not diesels) or if it needs a valve adjustment or an injector going south.... Kinda has a ticking sound that honestly I can't remember if it was there in the summer or not. Thanks.
