2007 5.9 OEM Remote Start Works!

Just installed the oem remote start kit. Parts were $82 for the module and $175 for the install kit.

Had a problem at first with it stalling after 2 seconds but then I didnt follow the instructions to program the SKREEM interface with my 2 sentry keys. Once I did this it works great.

Only safety feature that doesnt work is its supposed to shutoff the engine at 3x idle rpm. The starter seems to run a little longer than I would like as well.

to change the starter run time follow the set tach instructions but put in gear with the emergency brake on to pull down the rpm's or rev it up a little to make it turn longer.

Thanks I will try that.

I also disconnected the horn wire from the remote control module. Too many loud hongs on startup.

I just had mine installed from the dealership.

The starter also spins momentarily longer than I would like it to after start up.

I only have the instructions provided (operating not installation) and the installing dealership is 295 miles away. Could you be more specific on the starter disengaging sooner?

Thanks Boris

I have the installation booklet I can try scanning it in for you.

I am going to try what was suggested to lower the idle by putting it in gear right now. Will post results in half and hour or so.

tatkins85,
start is delayed about 30 seconds or so.

I had my dealer install it.

Part #82211214 and 82208859-AB

Those are the same oem part numbers as I bought. You can turn the 30 second delay on or off and run time either 10 or 15 minutes. I disabled the horn by cutting the dk green/violet wire in the 24 pin connector that plugs in to the remote start modulue. I think I am going to put a switch in line so I can turn it off and on. You can hear the relay click and see the dash light flash when setting the options.

Working on scanning the manual.

I tried to make the starter crank less by lowering the idle, but didnt have any luck. I turned the key on hit the brake but it in neutral, turned on my a/c, turned on my jake brake, then turned off ignition, back on, then in to programming mode, started truck and put in gear with ebrake on waiting for idle to settle and hit brake. Still cranks a little too long. I put as much load as you could on it at idle to lower the rpms.

I thought I read somewhere where you could hit the remote start button while engine is running off key and pull out key and it would stay running.

Would be great if you could, like stopping to fuel, you could leave it run and take your key and lock the door. I know the aftermarkets probably do this.

My invoice says $476.00 $306.00 for parts and $170.00 labor.
However, when I purchased the truck 11/06 I paid $300.00 for the remote start. When I picked it up I was not asked for any more $.
My selling dealer treats me well.
