2006 running empty, any reason not to use tow/haul all the time?
I use my truck as a commuter, so I am almost always empty. Is there any downside, mainly longevity related, to running tow/haul all the time? I hate how the regular shift mode seems to slip the converter in 3rd and 4th forever before locking up. With tow/haul at light throttle, it locks up quick in 3rd and once in 4th it goes into lockup instantly too. The only thing weird is it leaves the converter locked up when coming to a stop and seems to shutter very slightly right before it unlocks just before idle at about 10mph. It doesnt seem like a big deal but I would hate to use it all the time if that is tearing something up slowly.
Thanks for any insight!

I drive almost 100% of the time in Tow/Haul. There is more to Tow/Haul mode than just the T/C locking up in 3rd. The line pressure increases giving you firmer shifts.
IMO, with the TC locking up earlier you get better mileage. The only difference is that the RPM's don't drop when you let off the accelerator (below 50mph), but fueling is reduced to help slow you down, so it is pretty much the same thing.
It's also easier accelerating in Tow/Haul when coming off of clover leafs or getting on the highway on ramps.
There are a lot of people driving their 06's in Tow/Haul mode.

Ditto on always using Tow/Haul.
If I could get it done, I'd flash the truck to start in Tow/Haul and only have Tow/Haul and OD lockout.
I know with my Jake brake on, the TC unlocks about 21-22 MPH. 10 MPH is way low.

Yeah, Im an idiot, I watched it all morning and it unlocks right at 21 mph, I dont know how I thought 20mph was "around 10mph" Im just going to use Tow/Haul mode instead of the default granny mode from now on. Thanks
