2006 reliability past 135K?
What injectors does Ford use and does Ford provide superior filtration?
I spoke to a 6.7 owner today at an alignment shop. That truck was quieter than V-8's almost. The owner said it was too fast.
I haven't gotten on the Ford site in ages.
Do they have a longevity issue?
Good luck with the 6.7 John P.
Competition is healthy.

Danderson:
Thanks for your kind words Sir!

Let me see if I can answer your questions. The 2011-2015 Ford F-250 6.7 Diesel Super Duties use a piezo injector in their engines. Internally, the piezo actuator is basically a stack of piezo crystals. When current is supplied to the crystals the crystals expand. When the PCM supplied current is removed from the piezo crystals they contract. When the crystals contract, they create voltage (current flow reverses). The PCM supplies current to the the piezo stack and when the injector is "de-energized" the current is removed
from the piezo stack stored by the PCM to actuate the injector.
Danderson,....these injectors are pretty simply constructed. IMHO,....they are not much bigger or longer than the old 94'-98' Cummins 5.9 12 valve
injectors. Compared to the Bosch 6.7 Cummins Injectors, there are alot less internal parts to fail. And your right, they are quiet. I attribute that to the new CR setup, the higher fuel pressures (30,000psi) and the internal design of that engine.
So far, so good on the purchase of this truck. I have almost 20,000 miles now with no problems yet. I have told many of my buddies that this may be the biggest mistake I have made on a truck purchase after having driven Dodge CTD Pickups since 1992. Time will tell buddy....................
I can tell you that this truck has the MOST comfortable seats of ANY
diesel pickup I have EVER driven!! I like the interiors much better than
in my Dodge Trucks and I fell the front ends are alot better too having
suffered a BAD "death wobble" with my 2006. I have about a dozen friends
that have the 2011-2015 Ford SD 6.7 Diesels and overall they have been
very reliable. One of my friends builds high end off-shore center deck fishing
boats with double or triple outboard engines. He has had two of the Ford
SD Diesels (2011 and a 2014), puts ALOT of miles on them towing these
heavy boats all over the U.S. and has had very good reliability with them.
I still have my 1996 Dodge CTD 12 valve, which I bought new way back in 1995 and will NEVER get rid of that truck. It has been, BY FAR, the BEST Dodge CTD Pickup I have ever owned and the truck now has almost 320,000 miles on it, although I have made some "modifications" to the engine!

As you know the P-7100 fuel pumps on the old 12 valves are super tough and
reliable and the injectors last a long time and will take alot more abuse than
ANY Bosch CR Injector.
Thanks again Sir!
