I generally try to go with the most proven parts when available, and in this case, the 48RE is more proven than the G56. Plus, the ability to put a Jake on it now, and have a better OD ratio, make it almost a

My auto (previous dodge 2500) was in the shop so much that the dealer broke his own rules and paid for a rental car for a week. After that, I vowed to go with the manual. I've been happy since. Plus, fewer people can borrow your ride with a stick!

I like my AUTO

My 03 has a little over 80,000 miles and is still running on the original factory auto trans. With just a chip I didnt have a problem but I went more extreme around 48-50,000 miles. I was able to go about another 10-15,000 miles before my trans really started to slip and now its to the point where I am seriously looking into getting an aftermarket trans here in the next 3-6 months, but for now I am still happy with the way its working.

I wanted a 6 speed (Used to work for DC doing electronics and trannys, put a FEW autos in during the early years.... ) but with all that HP and torque it's hard to keep up with the beast rowing through 5 or 6 gears.... plus the wife has to drive it sometimes and with the 06 it was hard for her to tell when she was in reverse... this could be really bad at a stop light or sign with a little Neon or VW behind her So I went with remorse to the dark side of a auto... I'll make sure to keep the warranty up on it for as long as possible but I do like how it shifts so far

If you can't decide, you'll have to compromise. Get an auto in the family minivan and a six speed in the truck.
