2005 Starting fluid only start

Hey everyone, new to the group and hoping to achieve a little knowledge. I have a 2005 3500 with an automatic trans. A friend has owned it since 2008. Its always been a dependable truck and always ran flawless. Has 230k currently. Over the past year it has a had a no start issue. with a little snort of fluid in the air box it will fire rite up. Runs strong and great. Turn it off and it will not crank again without another shot of fluid. It has an aftermarket fuel delivery system and brand new injection pump also the gasket on top with the injector wires in new. . I have have used an ohm meter on all the injectors and they are all .4 to .6. All the wires are .0 to .1..... I guess my question is can the injectors still be bad if they are showing that number ? What else should I be looking at and any tips or tricks to figure this out is greatly appreciated. Thanks yall !

One tip that may make it worth continuing to figure out this issue, is to disconnect your grid heater at the relays before you give your airbox a snort of fluid. Your grid heaters have the ability to ignite your snort just short of the intake manifold resulting in a very loud noise, flash of light, and various pieces of parts taking flight. Your engine may or may not start during this event. Anybody in the area of this event may or may not become intimate with the pieces that took flight and may or may not require a change of clothing.

As for your engine not starting without a snort, it seems your fuel pressure post injection pump isn't enough to get your truck running. It may be a defective 'new' pump or maybe your Fuel Pressure Limiting Valve stuck partly open. Another possibility is when your fuel lines were installed to the injectors, they were not torqued properly allowing leakage of fuel internally.

Some one else with more experience than me will chime in with better clues for you.
Back to morning brew . . .

Thanks !

I'll definitely check all that again. The grid heater is disconnected for the sake of starting an explosion lol. All of the parts that where put on the truck was an attempt to remedy the no start problem. Obviously none of it has worked. I'm really starting to think it could be injectors as much as I hate to say it. I'll definitely look into what you said and see if it works. Thank you!

I sent my injectors from my '03 to F1 Diesel for testing and rebuilding, somewhere between 1-200k miles (CRS setting in) and I was having minor starting issues. They rebuilt the sticks as they were worn out of spec and after installation, the engine ran great.
Another cup of morning brew . . .
