2005 six speed

Does anyone know what the new six speed is?

Dealer says the NV5600 is history on a new order but doesn't know what will replace it.

I read a thread a couple of months ago saying the new choice may be Getrag with an even lower first gear.

Thanks.

What's wrong with the current 6 speed? DC needs to get their autos under control first!

I think the shift quality and the weight. Its kinda natural to see M.B.parts migrate into the Vhrysler line of auto's/trucks.Probably cheaper on them also.Have rad that a 58re/68re is already in test mules.

Weren't many people here saying it also has a lower 6th gear? I sure hope it doesn't because there may be another 6 speed in the family some day.

I can't speak for everyone but my 6 speed works great. Shifts smooth and accurate. As far as quality, this 6 speed is the single best working part on our trucks, aside from the Cummins. I have yet to hear of a problem with them due to quality.

If they are going to provide a new tranny, it should be 7 speed.

Assuming it's the same G56 as in the PowerWagon (late availability). 6th gear is .79 as opposed to the current NV5600 which is .73

Yeah, the higher gear on the Powerwagon makes sense but not on everyone's truck.

I guess I should have asked you first what six speed you have.

Thanks again.
