2005 Fuel Mileage TSB??
2005 Fuel Mileage TSB??
I've got a friend with a 2005 3500 QC, 48RE, 4wd, 3.73 gears (what else do you need to know??)
He consistently gets around 12-13mpg, and around 7.5-8 pulling. Truck now has about 8K miles, and still no change.
Took it to the "dealer" he bought it from and they drove it for about 75 miles, and said "It gets 16 in town, and 20 on the freeway...bring it back when something's wrong!!"
My friend wasn't real happy, and I can't blame him..Any TSB's on the subject, yet??
Thanks for your help,
Chris

I have just around 1200miles on my 05 QC 2500 4X4 CTD and I am getting 14 to 16mpg around town and 19 to22 on the highway. I am leaving Friday for VA towing just over 6000lbs....I can't wait to see how it does. This will be my first long trip with the new truck. I know it will be a much better ride than I got from my 03 Hemi @7.5mpg!!!!!!
I have little faith in the overhead computer. This weekend, I'm towing my trailer on the interstate, trying to obey the manual's rule about not driving over 50 mph for the first 500 miles of towing. I set the cruise to 53 mph and travel 150 miles. Computer says I'm getting 16.2 mpg. I return, setting the cruise to 57 mph, computer says I'm now getting 15.3 mpg. I fill up after another 100 miles and pencil and paper says I got dead-on 13 mpg.
Screw it, I decide. For the last 50 miles of the trip, I put my foot in it. 65-72 mph until I reach the city streets. Computer says I'm getting 11.0 mpg.
The computer mostly is optimistic but it is occasionally under the actual mpg I get with simple math. I don't trust it.

lots O variables
There is such a wide range of reported MPG's on the board. Likewise, there are as many locations, driving styles, and truck accessory-ness that must effect mileage more than we admit or recognize.
thats what I've been thinking anyway.
