My buddy has a 2005 2500 came home and parked. few hours later got in to go to the store. Trans would not shift out of 1st. Today we changed filter and fluid. Same problem but at 3000 rpm it would shift in slowing down to a few mph to turn it started to shudder some. Can anyone help with some suggestion.

 

What did the fluid look like? Did fluid smell burnt? any metal particles in pan? Did you check band adjustment? Any codes???

 

He had not changed the fluid before but easy driving (flat land Texas) but still did not look that bad and did not smell burnt. The magnet picked up very fine particles but nothing big. Did not check band adjustment. No codes.
