Question 2004 vs 2004.5

I just bought my 3500 CTD Monday of this week. Happy birthday to me . I am questioning if it is a '04 or an '04.5 As I bought this truck used I do not have the build sheet or anything else that would tell me. Please help with what I can do to tell. The gear selector has tow/haul on it vs. the overdrive on/off. What date did they change the model? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Mine was born in november. So hopefully I will see the 325 on the side of the valve cover.

When did the block heater become an option? I have never heard of that?

The block heater has been an option for awhile. It's probably already there you just need a cord for it. There should also be a vehicle build date on your truck. Look on the door jamb or under the hood. They started building 2004.5 on January 04. The engines were built before that.

Thanks for the help on that everyone. I just found that I have the 04 not the 04 and a half. I am new to this site and already I love it. I will get back with everyone as it gets modded. I will hopefully be posting pics late this week of my new rig.
