2004 vs 2004.5
I just bought my 3500 CTD Monday of this week. Happy birthday to me .
I am questioning if it is a '04 or an '04.5 As I bought this truck used I do not have the build sheet or anything else that would tell me. Please help with what I can do to tell. The gear selector has tow/haul on it vs. the overdrive on/off. What date did they change the model? Thanks for any help you can give me.

The block heater has been an option for awhile. It's probably already there you just need a cord for it. There should also be a vehicle build date on your truck. Look on the door jamb or under the hood. They started building 2004.5 on January 04. The engines were built before that.

The pot lickers at DC made the cord optional with the 2004 model. Prior to that it came standard.

Thanks for the help on that everyone. I just found that I have the 04 not the 04 and a half. I am new to this site and already I love it. I will get back with everyone as it gets modded. I will hopefully be posting pics late this week of my new rig.
