2004 Ram- Electrical Issues
2004 Ram- Electrical Issues
I have an '04 Ram that has some electrical issues as of late.
I get 2 codes, P0483 and P2509.
I've noticed this summer the A/C was not working after idling for a while, but attributed that to what I thought was low freon. Perhaps it's the fan clutch as per code? It doesn't overheat, but then again it's pretty cool up here already.
Also, my brake light and ABS light will chime and go on and off intermittently. Could that be the little sensor on the rear diff ?
And finally, something is draining power out of the battery. Could either of the 2 problems above have anything to do with that?
The truck has been great, BTW, first issues in 300,000 miles.
I'm a long way from any dealer, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Checked the connector and sensor on the rear diff, the plastic housing is broken from rocks I suppose. Disconnected and sprayed everything with WD40, the lights went out and nothing has come on in about 30 miles of driving.
Looks like I need a new connector.
As for the fan, I can stop it with my hand when the engine is running and at operating temp, guess I'll get a new clutch and see if all of the above will somehow fix my electrical drain.
The batteries are factory ones, I suppose they may need replacing after 6 years/300K miles.

Weak batteries will show weak links in that system.
First issues, eh? Gotta love a Dodge!!
With that many miles, clean all grounds for a start. I like NOALOX as a protectant on same.

Yup, first issues besides normal wear and tear, and that's with heavy towing at times and an Edge EZ since day one. I think I'll keep this one until it falls apart, since I don't believe anyone, including Dodge, has a new model out that's as durable.
